No Bridezillas Here!

I am very lucky.
Truly.
My Brides are Amazing.
They really are!
These past several months have been filled with some of the most jincredible consultations of my career. Today I am featuring one gracious bride in particular that I have jintended to blog about for quite some time.

Kris & I first met some 14 years ago when she was working for the area newspaper & wrote a piece about my wedding cakes. When she came in earlier this year she told me that the day of my interview was the day she'd decided I would make her wedding cake & the time was finally here!

Before we get to the wedding & groom's cake we must start with her shower cake. That's right! Her friends knew just what she wanted & they ordered it from me.

A tier of Organic Coconut Cake alternately layered with Fresh Lime Curd & a tier of Toasted Almond Cake filled with Strawberry.

Next up, the Wedding Cake on the left was designed to closely mimic a photo she brought in & the Groom's Cake on the right was a surprise for the groom- a cake clone of their doggie Coco!

Coco was all cake- no styrofoam parts here! She was covered with dog-hair-textured-fondant to make for an uber realistic pooch. I heard the groom was thrilled! Yay!

Ahhh... now for the pièce de résistance! Alternating tiers of delectably flavoured cakes covered with a very thin fondant to add that silky smooth exterior. With accents of pearl dust the entire piece shimmered outside the reception hall. Ooh's & Aahs were heard from afar!

Best of all, the bride was ecstatic! Double Yay! She said everything was exactly as she had pictured it in her mind. Just another happy customer; it's all in a jinDays work.

Heart Shaped World

BTW
One of THE greatest CD's ever!
FYI
I played mine so frequently
that one day it simply shattered in two!
I've yet to replace it.
I must do that soon.
*jin starts thinking about Chris Isaak*
Um...
any of you know him personally?
Is he available?
Does he know that I am?
He's ultra jinworthy.
Hubba. Hubba.
*jins eyes glaze over*
Oh!
Sorry...
am quite easily distracted these days
this post is supposed to be about
Heart Shaped Cakes!

There's A Blogfan at my Door!

The longest distance traveled
thus far
by a blogfan
to meet moi...
are you ready?
Waaaaait for it...
A roadtrip
solo
from Colorado
all the way
to my 'lil ole shoppe
in Wisconsin!
Eternally Curious
spent 25 hours driving here!
(Her trip back home didn't take quite as long with an improved route.)

A little background info on the fabulous EC:
we blogmet some 2.5 years ago
became fast cyber friends
(us being star twins and all ;-)
and just knew we'd be great meatspace friends as well.

Seeing as she was driving all that way
and I try to be a hospitable jin
I offered her a room for as long as she could stay.
This jincluded
of course
all the jinfood she could eat
assuming she didn't mind going vegetarian
during her stay with me.

We had such a blast!!!
Both being a bit on the eccentric side
our topics of convo
might be considered mindblowing
to a few of you
but to others
you'll just wish you'd have been here!

EC used to study Esoteric Astrology
so I was more than happy
to trade her an in depth Tarot reading
for her esoteric interpretation on my Natal Chart.
Might I just add
that
I think between the two of us
we shook the Cosmos
with our undeniable accuracy.
(The details are a secret. That's all you get! ;-)

We:
talked
laughed
ate
&
took one photo
for all y'all
as cyberproof

EC also treated me to dinner
at
The Always Fabulous Kavarna
and gave me a hand
with many sinks full of dishes
and a wedding cake delivery
(Many thanks for NOT offering to help carry! ;-)

A few days
seemed to end much too quickly
but
alas
"Tis better to have Blogged & Met
Than never to have Blogged at All!"

Classical Chocolate Celebration

A Wedding Display
set up by a jin
Bet the peeps couldn't wait
until after din-din

For the chocolate went as far
as the eye could see
plus it was created by moi
so you'll know it's tasty!

Silvers and Golds
shimmers and such
I hope they loved it
so very much!

A groom's cake slathered in
Belgian White Chocolate Mousse
could make the worst of enemies
jinmediately call a truce!

A triple tier flourless
chocolate cake?
Is it true? Could it be?
Why yes, love's at stake!

All this imported chocolate
could bring about world peace
Let's drop these cakes all o'er the world
Any fighting would surely cease!

Beneath that chocolate coated
silver painted bottom tier
lies a ton of cheesecake
for a bride and groom so dear.

Do you play Chess? No, but I eat the Pieces!

Really, I don't think I can say much about this creation.
Except maybe for anyone whom isn't familiar with my anal-retentiveness.
(I am, after all, a textbook Virgo people!)
Still, the only thing I'd say to them would be:
"Of course those chess pieces and that chess board are NOT plastic! Sheesh! What kind of Pastry Chef do you take me for? I cast those myjinself out of delicious Imported Swiss Dark and White Chocolate then finished them by hand."

50!

You thought 50 years is Gold?
Wrong!
50 years is
a moulded White Chocolate Bow
dusted with Gold.

Angel's Tears

Spun Sugar
aka Angel's Hair
(DO click to enlarge!)
The little droplets of caramel that form between the strands are referred to as Angel's Tears. On a humid day the sugar will collapse and lose it's volume. I warn prospective brides about this when they request it. It will still look nice... it just won't be as fluffy and glittery. Yesterday was a perfectly dry gorgeous day and the sugar turned out brilliantly!

Pumpkin Cake Topper
As the banquet manager handed them to me for positioning she said, "This one is the Bride & this one is the Groom." Ummm... ok... if you say so!

There were one dozen 'side cakes'. Each was a different flavour which was printed on a card & placed in front of each cake. The flavours were:
Toasted Almond Cake w/ Toasted Almond Buttercream
Pineapple Cake w/ Pineapple Buttercream
Devil's Food Cake w/ Chocolate Hazelnut Creme
Poppyseed Cake w/ Lemon Buttercream
Old Fashioned Carrot Cake w/ Cream Cheese
Marble Cake w/ Belgian Dark Chocolate Buttercream
Yellow Cake w/ Orange Buttercream
White Cake w/ Strawberry Buttercream
Devil's Food Cake w/ Peppermint Creme
Cherry Almond Cake w/ Dark Sweet Cherry Buttercream
White Chocolate Cake w/ Raspberry Buttercream
Chocolate Cake w/ Mocha Buttercream

Arranging of The Cakes by The Jin

Hmmm... what does that remind you of?
No, not that! Dirty minds!
They're Kissin'!

Is it Fall already?!

Black & White? Not Quite!

Black and White
with a little Pink
Chocolate and Raspberries
What do YOU think?

Mostly Hand-Piped Buttercream Deco
with a Silk Accent Here and There
Many peeps saw me deliver it
They all just stopped to stare!

Up three flights of stairs
the jin did have to trek
she still looked Fab whilst doing it
Altho the colour drained from her face & neck!
